For all colors, can wash hands carefully; not recommend for daily shower wear due to abrasive contact with loofahs and interaction with chemicals we can't account for. Matte black coating will scratch over time to reveal the underlying 316L steel. We love the look, though, and think it brings a certain wear and aged effect to the rings, as they begin to look like blackened steel.
